Several people have asked to see some pictures of where I'm currently living, Clarksville, Ar. I'm staying with my
mother until I find work. Clarksville is small, with a population of only 7700 people. It's a nice town but there
isn't really much to do.
So, without further ado, let the excitement begin.
Above are two photos from the WalMart shopping center towards the highway. On the other side of the highway is Clarksville, though
technically Walmart is in Clarksville as well, across the highway is the real town. They're currently doing work on most of the
interstates in Arkansas, so all that construction type stuff is that.
The two photos on the left were taken a block from my mother's home. From the top of the hill, looking down through the trees, you can
see part of Lake Dardenelle, which covers a lot of the area here. If you like bass, it's a good place to fish. The third shot,
I just happened to be heading for a better shot of the lake, but was blocked by a train going by. This is about 1/4 a mile from
the house. You can hear the trains go by several times a day. I don't know why, but I love the sound. Finally, about a half mile
in the opposite direction from the trains tracks, is a view of a house on a hill with a bunch of tornado magnets in the foreground.
Arkansas is tornado country. I've been fortunate enough to miss out on their passing my entire life. Because Fayetteville is up
in the mountains, I expect that when I move there, I'll once again be safe from them. Right now, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.
At some point, I'll get some pictures of downtown at street level, but these I got from a hill just outside of downtown.
I thought the birds eye view would give you a better idea of just how small Clarksville is. This IS downtown. All of it.
There are some strip malls in other places, but this is pretty much it.
