Looking for a job...

It might be worthwhile mentioning I'm looking for work. My contract with IBM ran out at the end of December. I'm not wanting to start something until the first week of February. My resumé can be found here.

My ideal job would be something in neuroscience. Neuron and neural circuit simulation, spiking neural nets and so forth, are all of great interest to me. Right now I'm investigating ways of simplifying (computationally) the simulation of cortical microcolumns, in their entire diversity, while maintaining their functionality.

But I'm also a C#/.NET/ASP.NET programmer and I can do pretty much any kind of programming. I'm familiar with C/C++, HTML, JavaScript, VB.NET, VBScript, etc. I've done development in Windows and Linux.

Over my 6 years working for Ascential Software, Inc and then IBM (after IBM bought Ascential) I was involved in the design, development and maintenance of the application framework used by IBM Infosphere Information Analzyer and IBM Infosphere Information Service Director. This was a full application framework with dozens of custom controls (see screenshots), application services, such as reporting and logging, and a plugin architecture that was loosely modeled on the Eclipse plugin system.

My early work was largely involved in the design and development of the grid control (variants of which can be seen in most of the screenshots below). I also developed the help system and was involved in a major rearchitecting of the reporting system. Over the last couple of years, I was the sole maintainer of the framework, responsible for all new development, bug fixes, and support for developers using the framework.

Anyway, it was a pretty monumental project and I was happy to be part of it.

Here are a few screenshots:
